Fun facts about Blue Spotted Stingray
1. They are marine vertebrates that always love to hang out near the sea floor
2. They are the night owls of the ocean because they hunt at night. They eat crabs, shrimp, and other invertebrates.
3. They have cartilagenic skeletons like our nose, and they have amazing electrosensory abilities.
4. They are important in controlling invertebrate populations to keep the ocean balanced.
5. They often hide and tuck themselves under the corals, rocks, and sand floor. You might have to look closely to spot one!
In addition, at night, small groups of blue spotted ribbon tail rays follow the rising tide onto sandy flats to root for small benthic invertebrates and bony fishes in the sediment. When the tide recedes, the rays separate and withdraw to shelters on the reefΒ
