Did you know?! The fish that all divers should be aware of underwater is a Titan Trigger Fish!!
They have their own unique face with a wide mouth which contains short but sharp teeth inside. They have a dark brown pattern on their body with yellow fins. Their favorite dishes are small marine lives such as prawn, crab, shell, sea urchin, corals, etc. Their body size can fully grown to 40-75 cm. Indeed, they are the biggest trigger fish in a Trigger fish family (Balistidae).
In general, they can be mean and aggressive. Especially the male during the hatchery season. They often attack whatever is moving around or come close to their house space especially the divers who not knowingly swim around close to them. In order to protect their home and little kids. If you see them being aggressive, never turn back and try to swim away, it will increase their chances for them to attack you. What you should do is face them and slowly swim backward until you’re out of their upside conical boundaries.
You can easily spot them all around Koh Tao. Doesn’t matter if you’re scuba diving, snorkeling or freediving, they might appear in your sight. However, don’t stay too close to them if you spot one! With love and take care from the New Heaven Dive School Team.
