Twins Rock is one of the most well-known and frequently visited dive sites in Koh Tao, loved by both beginners and experienced divers alike. Named after its two distinctive underwater rock formations sitting side by side, this site offers an ideal environment for learning, exploring, and enjoying relaxed scuba diving.
Located just off the west coast of Koh Nang Yuan, northeast of Koh Tao, Twins Rock is easily accessible. The boat ride from Koh Tao usually takes only 10–15 minutes, making it a convenient and popular choice for daily diving trips and training dives.

Why Dive at Twins Rock?
Twins Rock is a favourite location for many diving courses, and for good reason. The site has an average depth ranging from 5 to 18 meters, creating safe and comfortable conditions for a wide variety of training programs. Calm waters, good visibility, and gentle currents (depending on seasonal conditions) make it especially suitable for:
Open Water diving courses
Advanced Adventure dives
Rescue Diver training
Skill refreshers and confidence-building dives
The gradual depth changes allow students to progress step by step, while instructors can easily manage groups and focus on developing solid diving skills.

Buoyancy World – A Training Playground Underwater
Just next to Twins Rock lies a smaller, purpose-designed area known as Buoyancy World. This unique underwater zone features a variety of structures specifically created to help divers improve buoyancy control. It is an excellent spot for practicing neutral buoyancy, finning techniques, and precise movement, especially during the Advanced Adventure diving course.
Buoyancy World is also fun and engaging, turning skill practice into an enjoyable experience rather than a drill.
Marine Life Highlights at Twins Rock
Twins Rock isn’t only for training, it’s also a fantastic Fun dive location. Certified divers can enjoy exploring the rock formations and swimming through sandy channels that wind between the two main pinnacles. Expect to see schools of fusiliers shimmering around the rocks, playful anemonefish tucked safely into their host anemones, and curious moray eels peeking out from crevices. Keep an eye on the sandy patches, and you may spot blue-spotted ribbontail raysresting gracefully on the seabed. Alongside them, a wide variety of colourful reef fish make every scuba diving experience here lively and full of detail.
Twins Rock truly offers the perfect balance between skill development and marine life encounters, making it one of the best dive sites in Koh Tao for both scuba diving training and Fun dives.
