30th years of New Heaven: Love, Friendship, and The Adventure of the Ocean Souls.
In 1995, New Heaven Dive School was born simply from a dream shared by two best friends, Kong and Dev. With nothing more than four air tanks, two diving gear sets, and a single longtail boat, they set out into the Koh Tao’s ocean. Kong, who had a big heart for the ocean, was the first Thai Divemaster in Koh Tao. As well as Devrim, a Divemaster, whose heart has chosen Koh Tao as a forever home.
Friendship has grown into family. Dev fell in love with Kong’s sister, Kaen. Together, they weren’t just chasing a dream — they were living it. But life, as the ocean does, brought waves of sorrow. A few years later, Kong, the beloved of friends and family, passed away. His absence was deep, but his spirit remained. With hearts full of love and a passion, Dev and Kaen carried on his dream, keeping his legacy forward.
In 2000, New Heaven Dive School became the very first Conservation Dive School in Koh Tao — a place where passion for the ocean turned into purpose. We started with planting giant clams and removing a clown of thorn fish. Soon, we grew to something bigger – we started coral restoration, reef conservation in Koh Tao’s sea, and a deep commitment to marine conservation. The school became more than just a place to dive — it became a friend, a family, and a home where love for the ocean is shared.
Today, New Heaven Dive School is led by Khan, the eldest son of the family. Born and raised on the island of Koh Tao, the ocean has always been a part of his life. From a young age, he fell in love with the sea, and by his early twenties, he became a certified scuba diving instructor. With a deep passion for diving and a strong commitment to protecting the ocean—values passed down through his family—Khan now carries on the legacy of the dive school. Through his work, he continues to share the beauty of the underwater world and live a life closely connected to the sea.
New Heaven Dive School is now 30 years old but still thriving! Nestled on the peaceful south side of the island by Chalok Beach, our location offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere with everything you need close by—restaurants, a grocery store, ATM, currency exchange, and a pharmacy, all within walking distance.
We offer a range of experiences, including Scuba diving, Freediving, and a Reef and Marine Conservation program. Our school is eco-friendly and proudly kids and family-friendly, creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone to explore the ocean. We believe in small group diving, allowing our experienced instructors to give each diver personal attention and ensure safety and comfort in every dive
Our other family businesses, Koppee Beach Club is our on-site restaurant, located right next to New Heaven Dive School. With a poolside setting by the sea, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of scuba diving or after a reef conservation lecture. Enjoy delicious food and refreshing drinks in a relaxed, beachfront atmosphere—ideal for families, friends, and travelers of all ages.
Baan Talay Resort & Yoga is just a 10-minute drive away, nestled in the jungle above the stunning Aow Leuk Bay. This peaceful hideaway is where we host our freediving sessions from May to October. Surrounded by nature and breathtaking views, it’s a tranquil space for yoga, relaxation, and reconnecting with yourself. With a focus on wellness.
